Poodle Nutrition
We feed our poodles a diet of Taste of The Wild, available at Tractor Supply and Atwoods. It's highly rated at DogFoodAdvisor.com, and it works for us. It's a bit inconvenient to make an extra trip, but it's worth it. We've tried other foods like Victor, and we like that also . It is a little less expensive but is also harder to find. Your puppy will be fed Taste of the Wild and I highly suggest continuing with that brand to avoid diarrhea. Continue on puppy food until one year of age for proper bone and joint development.
Satin Balls. Yes, this is a real food and that is its real name.... As the linked site says, "Satin Balls appear to have developed in the show community, as an uncooked, homemade dog food to improve coats and put weight on a skinny dog, quickly. Many recipe variations have proliferated on the internet, but a few are mentioned frequently. The dog rescue community also uses Satin Balls to put weight on underweight dogs." Our dogs love them. It's a mess to make, but put them in individual zip lock bags in the freezer and you'll have a month plus supply for two dogs, more if you just have one.
We also give Healthy Coat and Nuvet vitamins. It improves coat, but we've also seen reduction in anxiety and better behavior. It's been wonderful all around. You can also buy delicious treats made just for dogs. There's no other nutritional supplement that has better proven evidence of efficacy in both humans and dogs. Fish oil/Omega 3s are peer reviewed and proven.
Food that will give your dog diarrhea (remember, we own the parent dogs and have learned these the hard way):
